The SLickRock Bike Trail is open to both motorcycles and mountain bikes. In 1969, a Moab resident and motorbiker named Dick Wilson plotted the route and presented the proposal to the Bureau of Land Management. The plan was approved. The SLickRock Trail is physically demanding and technically difficult. The main trail is a 12.7 mile loop. The practice loop is 1.7 miles. Allow 5 to 6 hours to complete and bring a lot of water.... The SLickRock Trail should be approached with respect. Injuries are common
here. Unfortunately, some of the injuries have been quite serious.
