Utahraptor (YOO-tah-Rap-ter, "Robber from Utah")
It lived about 125 million years ago - Early Cretaceous Period.



Elephas (EL-eh-fuss)
Lived during part of the ice age on islands in the Mediterranean Sea
(Less than one million years ago - Late Pleistocene Period)



Gastonia (gas-TONE-ee-uh)
This heavily armored plant-eating dinosaur was discovered
in the Cedar Mountain Formation in Grand County Utah.
It lived about 110 million years ago - Middle Cretaceous Period.



Archelon ischyros (ARK-uh-Lawn iss-key-Rose, "Ruler turtle")
This is the largest turtle ever found. It measures 16 feet from flipper-tip to flipper-tip.
It lived about 66 million years ago - Late Cretaceous Period.



Smilodon (SMY-loh-dawn) One of the great saber-toothed cats.
The Smilodon (Californicus) used its large canine teeth to slash through the throats of its prey.
It lived between 40,000 and 10,000 years ago - Late Pleistocene Period.



Triceratops (tri-SARE-uh-tops, "three-horned face")
Its large skull likely served as a defensive weapon. It lived about
65 million years ago - Late Cretaceous Period.



Anhanguera (ahn-yahn-GARE-uh, "Old Devil")
This pterosaurs had a wingspan of nearly 14 feet.
It lived about 113 million years ago - Early Cretaceous Period.



Tyrannosaurus rex (ty-RAN-uh-Sore-us REX, "tyrant lizard king")
Perhaps the most recognzed and feared dinosaur with its huge head, six inch teeth, and massive jaw.
It lived about 65 million years ago - Late Cretaceous Period.
